LLOYD DUBOIS
(Strong-Thunderbird-Man)
Lloyd Dubois is from the Pasqua First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was born in 1964. His father is Cree and his mother is Ojibway. He has five other siblings, three who are practicing artists, and he presently resides in Regina. Lloyd is a graduate from the University of Regina (B.A. English, M.A. English) . Lloyd has taken several studio courses in drawing and painting and is currently exploring his interests and talents with soapstone carving.
Lloyd is a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council and he regularly attends the SCC annual arts and crafts shows, Waterfront Show and Sale (Saskatoon, SK), Wintergreen (Regina, SK), and the Cathedral Village Arts Festival. Lloyd has works in the permanent collection of the Saskatchewan Arts Board and in private and corporate collections in Canada and abroad.
I presently work with acrylics on paper and canvas where I attempt to depict relationships between plants, celestial bodies, two-legged, four-legged, winged, or other appropriate forms of Creation. Painting then is my way of showing appreciation and respect for the natural world and the sentient relationships between its inhabitants.

 |
An art style developed in the late 19th century characterized by the incorporation of symbols and ideas, usually spiritual or mystical in nature, which represent the inner life of people.
