Biography | |
Valerie Leri graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelors of fine arts. After college, she spent six months in bourget du lac, France studying painting under Mr. Henri Jeandet. She has had exhibits in two galleries in New Haven, Connecticut where she sold 12 of her 30 paintings exhibited. She is a member of the Cape Cod Art Association as well as the Falmouth Artists Guild. Valerie has won awards for her paintings titled "Gathering Storm" and "Ocean Colors" by an artists magazine as well as the Cape Cod Maritime Art Society. She currently has her paintings in one gallery in New Haven, Connecticut, three galleries on Cape Cod and in private collections throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. |

Style Realism |

A style of painting which depicts subject matter (form, color, space) as it appears in actuality or ordinary visual experience without distortion or stylization. In a general sense, refers to objective representation. More specifically, a nineteenth century movement, especially in France, that rejected idealized academic styles in favor of everyday subjects. Daumier, Millet, and Courbet were realists. |
