Biography | |
Sergei Alexeyevich Kirillov was born in Moscow in 1960. In 1978 he completed his studies at the Moscow Secondary Art School of the Moscow State Art Institution named after V.I. Surikov. From 1978 to 1984 he studied at the Institute, in the Studio of Professor Dmitry Konstantinovich Mochalsky, Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People's Artist of the USSR. In the 1985 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. Since 1981 he participated in more than 20 exhibitions all-Union, all-Russian, Moscow exhibitions, etc.) Since 1987 he has held eleven one-man shows. Since 1994 the artist recieves a State scholarship from the Government of the Russian Federation.
Works by Sergei Kirillov are on display at state museums of Russia and Australia and in private galleries and collections in Russia, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, South Korea, USA, and other countries. |

In a general sense, refers to objective representation. More specifically, a nineteenth century movement, especially in France, that rejected idealized academic styles in favor of everyday subjects.
