Anna Podbereska is a graduate of the Polish Fine Arts Academy and the winner of prestigious painting and drawing competitions-the Lexmark European Art Prize and several open poster competitions. She joins multi techniques of pencil, ink, charcoal, chalk, brushes and wash drawings to produce a contrast between lines and stains. Her canvases enchant the viewer with the lightness of the picture and the luminous, toned down range of colors. Human figures (frequently the same ones shown in different variations) emerge from mysterious backgrounds. The relations between the figures remain undefined and sketchy. Melancholic scenes, full of quiet eroticism remind of ancient mural paintings as if they had managed to stop the time. Even abstract pictures have the same special atmosphere of poetry and intimacy. |
