Description | |
Mystic Lake: Original oil painting capturing a brilliant summer sky over the Thousand Islands in Upstate New York.
I created this painting using many different techniques. In the sky I used a process of glazing allowing each thin lay to dry completely before applying the next layer. The water is a totally different technique of a cold encaustic painting. I wanted the colors to lie side by side rather than the typical wax medium (encaustic) painting which uses heat curing to blend the colors. The outcome is texture similar to impasto but with the visual eye appeal of impressionism. To create the colors used, I mixed raw powered pigments with neutral oils to other mediums.

Giclee prints are also available on all my original paintings. Prints are $80 + shipping

I am primarily a self taught artist who fell in love with nature. I like to experiment with different textures and colors, but always seem to return to the purity of tonalism.
