La curandera is very special to me. It reminds me of the old traditions practiced in the small villages of beautiful Mexico, where curanderas (shaman) perform a variety of rituals, some as simple cleansing of one's negative energy by brushing the body with certain leaves, or on a more serious note, guiding someone through a spiritual journey, many times in altered states.
Many of these traditions are slowly being lost.
I find there is wisdom and peace in this particular work of art. |
