A special note; as with almost all my paintings the straight colors are applied directly to the canvas and the mixing and blending are carried out there, opposed to mixing on a palette and applying the mixed paint to the canvas.
Please study the soft transitional changes in the color hues. Some areas of this painting have as many as sixty cross hatch brush strokes to achieve controlled blend. Borrowed paint ( pigment taken from of areas of the wet canvas) have been picked up and incorporated into the mix.
I feel that much of these fragile changes are not represented with these on-line photos and this is something that can be enjoyed only by viewing the original piece. |
