Description | |
Pavlovsky Posad is a tiny hamlet not far from Moscow where craftsmen still practice the intricate art of fabric printing. Original designs are engraved in wooden blocks, pattern by pattern, then printed one color at a time. Century-old designs on featherweight wool squares make me wonder about the flowers that faded long ago yet are still blooming in full color, preserved by human genius. This shawl looks classy worn over a dress. Draped from your shoulder and tied on the waist on the other side gives it a gypsy look. Over a coat it fights the boredom of the "like everybody else" look. If only I could show all the ways I know to wear it . Alas, you are free to discover them on your own, and maybe more successfully. But I'll know you wherever I meet you. It used to be a tradition in Russia that the son coming back from his first travel brought his mother a shawl for a gift. I can't wait until my son goes traveling. 100% wool A deep fringe of woolen threads and adjure border. |
