Teaching about nature and being in nature has been my lifes work. As I sculpt in wood shaping an owl, I think of the forests, and as I work in wet clay on an otter, I think of the riverbanks. For approximately 40 years I have been an early childhood teacher, co-founding a school called, Animals as Intermediaries. Being an accredited wildlife handler allowed me to share a wondrous world with others. For the past ten years I have given my full attention to sculpting. Many fine teachers have enriched my life as I studied sculpting in stone, wood and clay. They are Robin Campbell, Nathaniel Burwash, Crandell Huckins, Makato Yabe, Jim Kempes, Molly Prier and Clarence Cruz. Dr. Judith Burton and Seonaid Robertson have widened my understanding of the arts. My children, Glenn and Rebecca, and my husband Alan continue to teach me. |
