Biography | |
Ray is a native Clevelander now residing in New Jersey. He is a self taught artist that has been painting for over thirty years. He does not believe that "art" and "work" should be used together because creating his pieces is one of his ultimate enjoyments. The majority of his pieces are done in oils on a variety of surfaces i/e canvas, slate, sawblades, cast iron skillets, mirrors and ceramic tiles. He recently branched out into the field of illustrations and presently is a published illustrator of two childrens books for children with autism. |

Style Realism |
|
A style of painting which depicts subject matter (form, color, space) as it appears in actuality or ordinary visual experience without distortion or stylization. In a general sense, refers to objective representation. More specifically, a nineteenth century movement, especially in France, that rejected idealized academic styles in favor of everyday subjects. Daumier, Millet, and Courbet were realists. |
