Acrylic on canvas 50 x 50 cm - 19,6 x 19,6 inches
MINOAN / This strange anthropomorphic female, unlike most of my paintings in the series, has never existed in the Minoan civilization of Crete between 2700 and 1200 BC. People who, as you know, has totally disappeared, until Sir Arthur Evans rediscovered by chance in their footsteps at the beginning of the year 1900! But there is never any chance, they say? Anyway, having seen hundreds of seals and seal impressions, miraculously recovered, this time, I created this thing in the way ... from other sources (see my table referenced P118).
One word for those who know my monogram, it is curiously on this canvas! |

The Minoan civilization, a Bronze Age civilization, arose on the island of Crete and flourished from approximately the 27th century BC to the 15th century BC. It was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century through the work of the British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans. Will Durant referred to it as "the first link in the European chain." / WIKIPEDIA |
