This is the very famous work of Shmarin. The dramatic moment of the fare-well in the year of 1914 (The First World War).
The artwork symbolize the drama of the moment of farewell. The young Russian officer has to leave the country for the army. The farewell takes place in Usadba (familiar estates of the Russian nobles).
Dmitry Shmarin says that he was inspired by the story of one of the Russian officers and his letters to his beloved. The officer never returned back. Dmitry found the letters and the documents in the Russain Historical Archive. |
