With the Al;pilles of Southern France (Provence) in the background, the eye is drawn first to the fence leading into the distance, then to the line of pine trees in the distance just before the mountains, and between, inconspicuous as always, the sheep grazing. The Artist has an affinity for the Provence sheep after having met and spent time with a shepherd and his charges.
The foreground, on closer inspection contains red flowers.
